Weingut Steininger is an estate owned and run by the Steininger family - Karl, Brigitta and their three daughters Eva, Lisa and Anna. They own 30ha of vineyards in Langenlois, which is Austria's wine capital, about 70km north-west of Vienna and 10km from Krems, north of the Danube. Kamptal (in Lower Austria) is one of Austria's largest wine-growing areas. This is Grüner Veltliner country, but the Steiningers make a full range of still and sparkling wines.
The 'Loisium' is a futuristic wine experience and boutique hotel designed by the American architect Steven Holl, which is directly next to the Steininger estate, and part-owned by the Steiningers.
