The Château de Fonscolombe is a splendid 18th Century mansion buit in the Italian quattrocento style by a Monsieur Fonscolombe. The estate passed by marriage to the Saporta family in 1810.
The vineyard covers nearly 150 hectares of which about 40ha are classified Vin de Pays des Bouches du Rhône. The wine from these vineyards becomes 'Marquis de Saporta'. The site enjoys a moderate continental climate with cool nights and cold winters.
Harvesting is by machine; the wine making equipment is fully up to date, with full temperature control. The Marquis de Saporta wines are a modern interpretation of classic Provençal style.
