Carlos Pizzorno is the grandson of Don Próspero José Pizzorno, an Italian immigrant to Uruguay who set up his vineyard and winery in 1910. Today the Pizzorno family continue to to work the estate, with love and respect for the land.
Carlos and his family cultivate and harvest by hand 20 hectares of vines around the small winery, situated about 20 kilometers from Montevideo and close to the Rio de la Plata. Uruguay lies on the same latitudes as the major wine regions of Chile and Argentina.
The winery is run on traditional lines, using modern technology and methods where these help in the Pizzorno aim - to create wines of high quality which reflect the land.
