Lauca Vineyards & Winery, located in the heart of the beautiful Maule Valley, is an innovative and quintessentially Chilean concept that idolizes the family owned alpaca called Lauca, which is pictured on the labels and is already recognised as the brand’s icon.
The aging Alpaca (a member of the Llama family) named Lauca (pronounced Louw-ka), has been keeping a watchful eye over Renato Guerra’s vineyards for years, and is seen by Renato as his good luck charm.
Lauca’s careful guard over the 665 hectare estate has helped winemaker Renato Guerra and his son, also called Renato, to produce exceptional wines from an estate that has been owned and worked by the family for four generations. Today the Renato team combines over 100 years of winemaking experience with state of the art technology.
Lauca Vineyards has always searched for excellence in its wines and as such have developed their vineyards in areas which provide excellent conditions for grape production. Lauca Vineyards currently own 665 hectares situated along the banks of the Maule River in Chile, between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. This region has a privileged Mediterranean climate with cold nights and warm days, providing the necessary combination to obtain healthy, top quality grapes. Rain falls in winter during June and August. The soil is mostly alluvial with medium depth and an open texture for good drainage.
The main cellars are found on one of the vineyards, on the banks of the Maule River, in the Maule Valley. Boasting one of the most modern facilities in Chile, they have cellars holding more than 1,700 French oak barrels.
