As far back as the 1950’s Julio Gallo realised that Sonoma County provided his best source of grapes. Upon further examination of these unique geographical features he found that each valley in Sonoma creates a different ‘pathway’ for the ocean’s cooling fog intrusions, resulting in an unparalleled variety of grape-growing climates. Julio’s granddaughter, Gina Gallo is now a senior winemaker at the family’s Sonoma County winery where her brother, Matt Gallo, is the director of operations ensuring that the vineyards produce the best grapes possible.
