Firebird Legend’s success in the UK has secured Moldova a place on the international wine map. Situated between Ukraine and Romania and close to the Black Sea, this small independent country - formerly a member of the Soviet Union - is on the same latitude as Bordeaux.
Firebird Legend wines are made at the AurVin Winery, the most modern winery in the country, situated just outside Vulcanesti in the South-West corner of Moldova. South-West Moldova has been identified as having the best grapes and also the best ripening conditions within the country. Moldova is also fortunate to benefit from having two thirds of some of the richest topsoil in the world - a black loam rich in natural fertilisers. The humus content of the soil is 80% and the vineyards are predominantly situated on slopes with a limestone base which gives for good drainage and a low pH.
The state-of-the-art AurVin winery was built in 2001; wine has been made in Moldova for 3000 years and until recently what was not consumed at home was exported to the Soviet Union and then the Russian Federation. Firebird Legend wines are produced with the advice and guidance of world-class consultants, Cellarworld International, and are tailor-made for the international market.
The Firebird Legend is part of Moldovan folklore – a tale of good overcoming evil. The legend tells of a mystical bird rising from the ashes to guide the hero to victory through many perilous adventures.
