“The Iles family, Philip, his wife Sarah and son Russell, only bought this property in 1998 but have already made their mark…Clearly, the property is going places.” David Peppercorn, Wines of Bordeaux
“Under the Iles family stewardship, Lezongars is now a name to watch for generous, juicy reds and surprisingly classy dry whites.”
Andrew Jefford, Decanter magazine
Château Lezongars is a small but dynamic family-run winery situated in the village of Villenave-de-Rions in the Premières Cotes de Bordeaux region. After 20 years owning and managing wine bars and restaurants in London, Philip and Sarah Iles bought Château Lezongars to fulfil a lifelong dream to make wine. Their much-loved Labrador, ‘Bollinger’ appears on the wine labels of Lezongars and their second wine (unoaked) Château de Roques.
The vineyard is harvested by both machine and hand and ageing takes place in both casks and vats. The resulting wines are a true reflection of the surrounding terroir and leading examples of the ‘new wave’ Bordeaux.
