The name Bélingard is said to come from the Celtic beleen garten meaning the garden of the beleen or belin god - the god of the sun and of war. There is in the gardens of the manor house a Druidical stone dating back 3000 years.
Whatever the truth of this, what is true now is that the Bélingard estate occupies a magnificent site overlooking the valley of the Dordogne. There are 52ha in Pomport and a further 38ha in Monestier. The estate is the single largest private producer of luscious Monbazillac wines.
The Bosredon family have been making fine Bergerac and Monbazillac here since 1830, and today Laurent and his family are raising the quality of their wines even higher.
