Corvina (60-85%), Corvinone, Rondinella, Merlot and other rare local vines are grown in the ancient vineyard of Pojega and vinified in the adjoining cellar. Pojega is situated in the village of Negrar at the heart of the DOC. Pojega is vinified in stainless steel vats and enriched with a ripasso over Amarone grape skins. It is then aged in oak casks for 12 months.
The wines from Valpolicella once ranked with Italy's greatest, until industrial production all but destroyed the area's reputation. A few producers have remained conscious of the real quality and character that Valpolicella is capable of: Pojega is a fine example of this consciousness.
