Pinot Noir 100%, grapes from the Grèves vineyard, of which Joseph Drouhin own a large parcel. The Grèves is situated on a steep slope directly overlooking the city of Beaune. The name probably comes from 'graviers' meaning small pebbles - the soil of the vineyard is very stoney. No fertilisers or weedkillers are used on the Drouhin portion of the vineyard. The grapes are picked by hand and fermented in open wooden vats; the wine is matured for nearly two years in oak barrels. Many people consider the Grèves to be Beaune's best site.
TASTING NOTE
Brilliant garnet red colour. In its youth, this has fresh blackcurrant aromas, which give way in time to spicey, tobacco characters, very distinctive. The wine is medium-bodied but intense, with refined tannins and a light woody touch. Subtle and seductive.

| FOOD PAIRING |
A great wine which needs fine food - grills, roasts, game, poultry and mature cheese are all good accompaniments. |
