Semillon 100% sourced from three high quality vineyards located in Pokolbin, Hunter Valley. The Howard Vineyard contains some of the oldest Semillon vines in the district. The Semillon on the clay-loam soil was planted in 1965 and the Semillon on the sandy loam soil was planted in 1992. The Wombat Crossing Vineyard is relatively young, planted in 1997 on sandy-loam soil. Bimbadgen's Palmer's Lane was planted in 1972.
The growing season for Semillon was nearly perfect until New Year's Eve when a prolonged period of heat set in. Harvesting was done in February.
The fruit was chilled, gently crushed and pressed to retain the delicate fruit aromatics. The cold settled, clarified juice was inoculated with neutral and aromatic wine yeasts. Fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks at 12°C for four weeks. The wine was than matured in tank prior to blending and bottling
